The fifth season of the TT 217 project investigating the tomb of Ipuy took place between 08.01. and 02.02.2026, with varying team members. The team consisted of Kathrin Gabler, Louis-Philippe Bazelier, Rahel Glanzmann, Martina Landrino and Alina Zalunardo, supported by Abdou Osman Daramally, Mohamed Mohamed and Mohamed Dieab.
The focus of the season lay on the intensive documentation of the wall fragments, mainly belonging to the polychrome decorated chapel of TT 217. The team managed the detailed description, measurement and drawing of 130 pieces, summing up in a total of 901 processed fragments. This achievement allows now the start of digital reconstruction of new wall plans. 244 fragments are still outstanding for documentation in the next seasons (75 from the known fragments, stemming from previous investigations by N. de Garis Davies; and 169 from the newly discovered pieces in 2023, registered in 2024).
Room X incl. the passage leading to room IX was cleaned and documented (with photos). The rooms were slightly covered with debris from previous investigations. The monitoring of the rock-cut tomb has continued. The in 2023 and 2024 installed crack meters show no movement respectively proof stability of the tomb.
